Long time, no post

It's been a while since the last post, but that was not my intention. I just got back from a very cool vacation in Iceland (!). I was hoping to blog from there but Google wouldn't let me. First it didn't like where I was. Then it didn't like the computer I was using. Then it insisted on confirming I was me by texting my cell phone.

Of course, I kept my cell in airplane mode to keep from racking up huge data charges so I couldn't blog. Thanks for nothing, Google. Uhhh,  maybe if somebody knows their password you should just chill the (fill in the blank with a word of your choice) out.

SAD NEWS FROM AFAR. Every time I leave the country (or the state for that matter), I wonder what kind of strange or ill stuff will go down, not that my staying home would have made any difference. I was in Okinawa, for example, when the Upper Big Branch mine disaster happened in 2010. This time, I was horrified from afar by the news of the church massacre in Charleston, South Carolina.

In case you missed it, here's what AFSC had to say about that tragic incident and the legacy of racism. And for what it's worth, a major focus of AFSC's work in West Virginia is and will continue to be undoing racism.

WOW. The big news today is that the US Supreme Court dealt a major defeat to the right wing efforts to kill the Affordable Care Act. I guess there will be howling at the moon tonight.

Anyhow, Goat Rope is back in business.
